Celebrate Braille in 2 Competitions for NZ School Students
With a closing date now of Friday 16 November 2018 we’re running two competitions to celebrate Braille Literacy Day on 7 September.
For Primary and Intermediate aged students: Make up a name for the New Zealand Braille Literacy Kiwi Mascot and collage a picture of it (A4 size). Post the artwork to Gloria Edwards, BLENNZ, Private Bag 801, Manurewa, Auckland 2243.
For individuals or groups of Secondary School or BLENNZ Transition students: Write a jingle for the BANZAT literacy competition using one/some or all of the following themes: Braille, Literacy, Conservation or Kiwi. Email your jingle to firstname.lastname@example.org
For good resources to help you with these competitions and to learn about the prizes, read the well-structured PDF at www.banzat.org.nz/documents/2018BrailleDayActivities.pdf. It contains some screen reader friendly SimBraille which can be printed without having to install a SimBraille font.
We’ve had a few great entries and we’re really looking forward to more of them. We’ve seen and heard great talent out there and we’re giving our students more time to show more of it to us.
