BANZAT was represented at the Fifth General Assembly of the International Council on English Braille (ICEB) in May 2012. Papers were presented about how New Zealand transitioned to Unified English Braille (UEB) and how we have worked with Australia to develop the Trans-Tasman UEB Proficiency Certificate. Our Country Report reviewed the past four years of braille in New Zealand. BANZAT is regularly contacted by overseas colleagues about these papers. ICEB has set up a certification committee to work out how best to accredit the UEB code knowledge of transcribers and teachers. Read all the papers here.
